Last Wednesday was dark and gloomy. The winds were constant and a bit cold as they whipped off Long Island Sound and onto the shore at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport. But there was one really bright spot at the park.
A crowd of several hundred people were on hand as the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and Friends of Sherwood Island State Park celebrated the opening of the new nature center overlooking Long Island Sound between East Beach and the salt marsh nature trail at the park.
