Wilton teen serves in Peru (Excerpt)

Some teens spend their spring break relaxing. Others travel to warm locations, seeking fun and sun.

Hayley Brown, a Wiltonian who’s a junior at Greens Farms Academy, spent her spring break — from March 20 to March 28 — helping build an aqueduct and pipeline that would bring water to the small town of Coayllo, Peru — a service trip sponsored by Builders Beyond Borders.

According to Hayley, Builders Beyond Borders (B3) “is an awesome experience for high school students in the greater Fairfield County region. It’s a nonprofit organization that provides the opportunity for high school students to help impoverished communities in South America through construction projects in small villages.”

Builders Beyond Borders has provided Hayley with the opportunity to serve in three South American countries.
